Jonna Fox has made it her business to know everything about Mack King and it didn’t matter that he was her brother’s rival. For the last four years, he has dominated the sport of illegal street racing and was the undisputed Carolina King. Racers respected him, emulators hated him and women couldn’t resist him. There was a dangerous edge to Mack which only fueled Jonna’s attraction, but the problem was he had no idea she even existed.
No longer able to ignore her full-blown obsession, Jonna decides to make herself known to Mack. As soon as he spots her boldly moving through the crowd wearing a short skirt, and sexy high heels he wastes no time taking the bait. Except one incredibly hot and passion filled night would never be enough—for either of them.
Jonna learns that underneath the heavy weight of his crown there is so much more to Mack and the life he leads. Racing is everything to him, but in order to stay on top he succumbs to activities that have serious consequences. When a myriad of poor choices result in a situation which threatens to strip Mack King of much more than just his title, he must decide either to give up the life that has defined him or the girl who brings light to his darkness. Which will Mack choose and will it be easy as he thinks to walk away?

Our Review

Review by: Melanie

(4.5 stars)

I really enjoyed Book One in this series and Book 2 was even better.

With a lot more action, a bit more story and some very good sexy time scenes, Carolina King is the story of Mack and Jonna. Gwendolyn Grace took everything that was good from the last book, and wrote it just that little bit better this time.

I really liked Jonna. She may be young, and overprotected by her parents and brothers, but none of that made her a prissy little princess with the attitude to go with it. She was a strong, confident girl and I think she was a well written character.

Mack, well he seemed like a bit of an arse in book one but we got to meet the real Mack this time. He was actually really nice, and although he was still a little off with Jonna at times, it was explained eventually why he was like that.

I don't really want to say much more for fear of spoilers but I'm really enjoying this series so far and can't wait for Book 3.

Our Review of Carolina Hurricane

Review by: Melanie

(4.5 stars)

As the title suggests, this novella series is set in the Carolina's. The author either knows the area well or she has to have studied it or something because I was there. The descriptions throughout the book had me not just seeing the place, but I could feel it. The sea air, the atmosphere, the adrenaline, the emotion, even the sand under my feet. Yes that may sound a bit silly, but honestly, Gwendolyn Grace writes in a way to make you feel.

Leaving a bad relationship and pretty much nothing else behind, Harley attempts to catch a bus from Charleston to the one place she ever remembers being happy; her Grams' old beach house on Sea Whisper Island, South Carolina. She isn't quick enough though, with the bus leaving the depot before she can buy her ticket. Not wanting to risk staying with the weirdo's in the bus terminal overnight, she walks outside, not entirely sure where to go.

Outside, the rain starts to fall, but luckily for Harley, the hot guy she'd been toying with earlier, pulls up besides her and offers her a ride, finding out they are going to the same place. A hurricane has closed the route though and the pair end up spending the night in a motel, waiting for the roads to open again.

And so the story of Harley and Fox begins. Fox being part of a family who owns a restaurant and rental properties on Sea Whisper Island, and has a brother, Woody, a street racer, who he has to keep bailing out of problems.

A nice quick read, I read this in a few hours, I enjoyed Carolina Hurricane. It felt real to me. The atmosphere was there, the writing style was good and drew you in and it actually made me feel like I was reading a Nicholas Sparks movie. So much so, when I finished it I just had to watch 'Safe Haven' and ended my night bawling, lol. There was only one thing that seemed a bit 'meh' to me and that was the way Fox handled an issue. It seemed a bit wussy to me, but that's just my opinion.

It did have a bit of a cliff hanger ending, so I will be diving straight into Carolina King once I finish writing this review.
